Our Community Crest After World War II, the government of Newfoundland created the farming community of Cormack and settled it with war veterans. This is symbolized in the crest by a plowshare and sword and was inspired by the biblical quote from Isaiah 2:4 .... ..they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore. The two trees, one on either side of the design, suggests the community is in a valley and is surrounded on all sides by lush forests. Cormack is nestled under the White Hills on the fertile flanks of the Humber Valley. Snow can be seen on the White Hills for most months of the year and this is suggested in the design. The long furrows of green and gold suggests its agricultural activities. The colours of our crest represent the colours of the changing seasons.Designed by Warwick Hewitt. | ||
