Meeting was called to order by the Mayor at 9:10 pm.
1. Adoption of the 2007 Municipal Budget

Utility Tax (Based on Gross Revenue) 2.5 percent
The due date for all taxes levied by the Town of Cormack is March 31,
2007 after which date the unpaid balances are in arrears and subject to interest
charges of 9.75 % annual rate to be applied monthly. The town will provide a
discount of 5% on 2007 Property Tax, Business Tax (excluding the Utility Tax)
and Poll Tax up to and including February 28, 2007. A payment plan can be
arranged with the town with the following stipulations:
‒ the plan must be in place with the town by March 31, 2007
‒ payments must be no less than the minimum of equal payments made over
the period of the plan
‒ payments must be received in each of the months, failure to receive
payment will result in cancellation of the payment plan
‒ upon final payment, and all terms and conditions being met, the
interest charges accumulated against the current year’s tax account will be
written off (from the start of payment plan).

It is noted that the accounts receivable needs to be reduced and this
will require a concerted effort on behalf of the staff. A ‘Collection Policy’
will be prepared and included with this year’s newsletter which will accompany
the tax invoices. Considering the amount outstanding to the town Council felt it
was appropriate that the previous surplus be used to balance the 2007 Budget.
2. Compliance Letter Matter
The office has received a request for information respecting the Lush’s
Cottages property, specifically about the zoning - part of the development
extends into the agricultural zone.
Since the development was permitted by Council it was agreed that the
clerk’s intent to provide the information that the use is non-conforming but
tolerated. It was considered as a non conforming use which would not interfere
with existing or future agricultural development.
3. Local Government Gas Tax Funding Agreement
Councillors considered the matter of the local government gas tax
funding agreement. Everyone had taken the opportunity to read the agreement
before hand.

It is duly Resolved that the Town of Cormack access the Local Government
Gas Tax Funding for 2006 and 2007 in the amount of $42,851 to carry out works to
upgrade municipal road infrastructure through ditching, installation of
culverts, upgrading of road surfaces and paving. The funds are to be banked
until a multi year capital investment plan is prepared4 for, 0 opposed, 0
abstained, carried.
Accordingly the Mayor placed his signature on the Local Government Gas
Tax Funding Agreement.
4. Vacation Pay to Lawrence Morris

Council approved the payment of forty hours of Lawrence Morris’ vacation
time for 2006.
